Collectively we can make a difference, but we are told that resistance is futile - that you will be brought into the collective, you will know your place. They run the politics; we run the economy. On This Day, we as Black Americans are told that we are not really Americans - we are still treated like immigrants. We are treated like unwanted occupants in a country that no longer needs or wants us present in it. But of course, this is a roast. We built this country after more than four hundred years of occupancy – this is home, so let’s act like it.

We were some of the lucky ones - we made a choice to be the best version of ourselves. That's our mission: to help those who are on the fence.
IT'S TIME TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED
On This Day, we are going to do something that is unprecedented - take a page from the past. We are going to put a dent in this economy by showing solidarity. First, by boycotting companies that practice unfair pricing and hiring of Blacks, and by using Black vendors as much as possible. Without these things becoming a reality, we will continue to cripple the already fragile position we have. White supremacy is alive - and guess why? Because we let it.

On This Day is a collaboration of facts and fiction of young and old from different walks of life. This collaboration was to bring Black Americans to the forefront of society and off the edge of the abyss. This Day is not a cause for political or social posturing. On This Day is a movement to uplift ourselves by the bootstraps. How can we unify a nation if we can't unify a community? How can we expect someone to do for us that we will not do for ourselves? On This Day, let's send out a message that will echo throughout this country. We will not be judged as Black Americans but as Americans.
